YOLO ferries back into the Lower 48 to MI

Our last stop on the ferry before reaching Washington was in Ketchikan, Alaska.  We had hours there to sightsee and walked the several miles into town.  This was one of the signs welcoming us to town.

We saw lots of totem poles in town.  This trio was in a lot by the port marina, a bit off the tourist track.
Jason in the grips of a friendly fuzzy polar bear.
The big soaring eagle carved sculpture in downtown Ketchikan near the cruise terminal.
This tunnel is unusual because you can drive through it, around it, or over it.
The best bar come on ad I saw!  This sidewalk chalkboard is creative.
This statue has people from all walks of life on all of its sides.
This is a very tall totem near the Creek Street area with lots of room left to carve the story.  And an old totem near the cultural center.
A seal floating on its back with a salmon in its mouth in the creek that runs through the Creek Street area in downtown Ketchikan.
A seal floating on its back in the creek.  They'd roll over and dive down to pick up another salmon to eat.
There were lots of dead, spawned-out salmon on the creek bed for them to choose from.
A cute sign on the side of an old brothel in the Creek Street area.
Karen standing on a dock in the Creek Street area of Ketchikan.
Lots of colorful totems lined the boardwalk around town.
Another view of that soaring eagle carving and the tunnel in Ketchikan.
This purple monk's hood flower stalk was huge and beautiful along the sidewalk.
Back on the ferry, another pretty sunset.
A humpback whale in the water in front of a hump of land along the Inside Passage as we ferried towards Washington.
The plaque on the MV Matanuska, our ferry from Skagway to Bellingham, WA.
Sunrise along the Inside Passage.
We spent some time working on a puzzle in one of the lounges on the ferry.  Lots of pieces were missing and we found pieces that belonged to other puzzles in our box.
The Devil's Slide, a rock formation along the road in Wyoming.
Mom and Jim playing with a puppy that belongs to a neighbor.
Jason and Mom, before Jason's haircut.
Brother Tom, not a fan of the camera.  He let us stay at his house even though we'd just come off a bout of COVID.
Scotty with is nerf grenade.  Drop it and the 9 nerf balls inside blow out in all directions.
Searching for those nerf balls after letting the grenade off in the back yard.
A family gathering in front of the YOLO van at Tom's house.
A birthday gathering for me at Mom's house after the required isolation time. And after I cut Jason's hair.
A new shirt and jacket for my birthday from my brother.  He also gave me a new shirt and a hoodie.
A knitted or crocheted wheel cover.  It drooped a bit and seems impractical, but it was an interesting sight.
A field full of orange and white pumpkins along the road.
Driving into red clouds in a sunset...
That morphed into molten gold.
What a nice ending to the day nearing the end of our journey
