We visited Traverse City for a day with our friends, Mike and Sue from Florida. This mural on a building was new since the last time I'd been in downtown TC.
Sue and Mike as we enjoy a cup of coffee and a cinnamon roll as we wait for Jason to find us after he dropped off their car for a new windshield.
Sue, Jason and Mike as they look out over the bay in Traverse City.
If you're lucky enough to be at the lake, you're lucky enough! The sign says it all.Taking a break fron our walking tour around Traverse City.
These folks on a pedal-powered mobile bar had a different kind of break.
Sue and Mike waiting for Jason to return with the car from the shop. The sun came out and it was a lovely afternoon.
You can see the fog rolling across the lake. If you look at the right side of the picture, you can still see the treed shoreline where the fog hasn't yet reached.
Mike played surgeon and removed the thirteen stitches from Jason's back for me. He had a pre-cancerous basal cell removed and I wasn't keen to pull out the stitches after doing it the last time for him.
We got into the rum tasting after dinner on their last night with us. We just sat around the tiny dinette table and sipped three different kinds of rum--from Cuba, Puerto Rico, and Madagascar. Jason's not fallling over drunk; he just thinks he has to lean in to fit into the picture.
The Madagascar rum from Nosy Be that was a gift to us from a thankful sailor for a good deed we'd done.
Another foggy mornign as the grey haze moves across the lake. Still water, though, and you can even see my reflection standing on our dock taking the photo.
Jason got in one final sail on a day that was blowing a hoolie. Here he comes cutting in to dock the boat so we could take it out of the water the next day.
Jason is all smiles, even though he capsized and had to have a pontoon boat help him get the Hobie Cat righted again so he could get home. Good thing he had the wetsuit on.
He was soaked, yet all smiles. The sails are ripping and delaminating, so they will need replacement before he can do this again.
A view from the lake after the dock and hoist were removed. They will sit in the front yard until they go back in next spring.
A colorful sunset at Higgins Lake.
Our neighbors received a plaque for recognition from the Friends of the Library for their generous donation to the library at Central Michigan University. We accompanied them to the event luncheon and got to listen to the author of The Revenge of Analog, David Sax. Jean won a copy of his book as a door prize, too, and we both read it when she brought it home. A fabulous lunch, too.
Herb and Jean, our neighbors, in front of the location where a new security door is to be installed to allow 24-hour access to the library for CMU students. Their donation paid for the new access door, but it isn't yet installed.
A pretty pastel morning after a thunderstorm cell had moved through.
Christmas tree farm we pass as we drive to Traverse City. This tree farmer tends his trees well and has them shaped so nicely.
